Ankara
It is a big change to be in a large cosmopolitan city like Ankara, with a population of over 4 million people, after all our traveling in the East of Turkey. Large hotels, commercial centers and a large international presence is somehow refreshing.
The team poses for a picture after an interview with Mr. Istemihan Talay, Turkish Minister of Culture (second from left). He's responsible for all of Turkey's archaeological wonders, and all modern cultural matters as well.
Dr. Rob Michelson, a Noah's Ark investigator, gave us an interview and explained his scientific approach to the search for the Ark. He is focusing his efforts on the Durupinar site, where he feels there's compelling circumstantial evidence to indicate not only the remains of an ark-shaped vessel, but also an ancient settlement.
We ended the day with an interview with the President of GAP, Olcay Unver. GAP is a $32 billion Turkish government development project, focusing their efforts on southeastern Turkey. Part of their project to improve the lives of the people living in this region is the building of dams, to provide power and irrigation for agriculture. They formed a parternship with the Packard Humanities Institute to conduct the rescue archaeological effort of Zeugma.
Tomorrow is the final day of our shooting expedition in Turkey.
