The last day of Laura and Terri's stay with us called for a very ambitious plan and a hectic shooting schedule. We were planning to shoot Arsameia, Cendere Bridge, Karakus and some village life on the way to Malatya's airport. We started on Dalmacik village where Tufan filmed a local family taking care of their horse and milking their cow. Some kids came around to take a look at this funny and curious Turkish guy.
After a few stops on the way we managed to get to Arsameia.
At the Cendere Bridge we walked all over and under the Roman structures. The bridge is still in use and the normal traffic goes over it to cross the river. Most of the villagers around this area do not own cars so they cover the small distances between villages on their donkeys. At the bridge we met a small kid on his donkey and we took our last team picture with him: Ahmet, Teri, Laura, Berta, Tufan, and Zeynep.
Our last stop was Karakus, the tumulus that Antiochos built for the women of his family. After that we drove straight to Malatya, just in time to get Laura and Teri on their plane to Istanbul. Yes, it was a hectic day, but fun - and with the successful shoot, very satisfactory.
As Laura and Teri took off to go back to the other side of the globe, Ahmet, Zeynep, Berta and Tufan headed back to Nemrut for a few more days of shooting.
