MALATYA

Malatya is a sort of outpost for nomads who move their sheep into these high mountains for summer pasture. Malatya is actually two towns, the modern town and the Eski Malatya, the old walled city, which is about 6 miles (10 km) north of Malatya proper.

The ruins of Eski Malatya lie crumbling amid wheat fields. There are several interesting buildings like the Ulu Cami, built in the 13th century CE, of Persian style.

Nowadays, Malatya is the gateway to  Nemrut Dagi.
